The Red Wings have rounded out their coaching staff, filling holes left after the decision to move on from Jeff Blashill and some of his staff. Bob Boughner, former NHL tough man, joins the team as an Associate Coach. Previously Boughner worked for San Jose where he filled various roles, including the interim head coach. Boughner also worked as an assistant coach for both San Jose and Columbus.
Alex Westlund will fill the role of the Red Wings’ Goaltending Coach. He comes over from the Washington Capitals, where he spent the last five seasons in the same position.
New Head Coach Derek Lalonde aimed to fill the staff with someone who has experience as an NHL coach or as an NHL player. Boughner covers both.
